On his ninth birthday, Omri is presented with many gifts – the most unusual being a simple cupboard. Yet, this is no ordinary wooden box. It is endowed with magical powers that transform Omri’s plastic toy figurines into living creatures. However, when Omri’s friend, Patrick, learns about the magic cupboard, their fantastic secret is in danger of being revealed. Directed by Frank Oz and written by Melissa Mathison (E.T.), this film is based on the beloved children’s novel by Lynne Reid Banks.
